Kiara is a senior at Gardiner High School. I just love her look — the hair, THOSE EYES, the clothes… it all works!
She wanted a lot of flowers in her senior photos, so we did most of her session at McLaughlin Garden in South Paris.
Kallie brought clothes that ran the gamut from classic feminine to totally on trend. And her favorite color is red…this jumpsuit was awesome.
Kiara loves to read, and enjoys meditating and playing tennis. Her eyes are so beautiful and expressive!
I first did photos of Kiara well over a decade ago, and several times over the years…photos with her older sister and family. She has grown into such a lovely person. Her mom describes Kiara’s personality as fun, loving and funny. I totally got that from my time with her, I hope I captured that a little bit along with the classic feminine look she was envisioning. Here are more of my favorites –
Kiara’s plans after graduation include going to college for accounting. I have no doubt that she will succeed in everything she puts her mind to.
Thanks for such a fantastic session, Kiara! And thanks to Allie Roberge of Tagli Salon for the picture-perfect hair and makeup.
Senior portrait season is well underway, and though I’m absolutely horrible at sharing photos on this blog or social media, I’ll try again and see if this year I can actually share many of the great teens I have been having the pleasure of photographing this summer.
First up is Addie, a senior at St. Dom’s in Auburn. Addie has really impressed me — she’s so well-rounded, she’s who I wish I had been as a teenager. (And I wish I were more like her now!) She’s got brains (the book-smart kind and the practical kind), beauty, compassion, athletic ability, a sense of humor, she’s a go-getter and she’s not afraid to try new things.
Her hobbies include sports (hockey, soccer and lacrosse), robotics, reading, pottery, photography, and I’m sure more that I’m forgetting, or that she’s added since her session. This girl isn’t one to sit around and wait for things to happen.
Scroll on to see more favorites from our session. Hair and makeup is by Allie Roberge of Tagli Salon.
Thanks for a great session and your great attitude, Addie!
Sometimes photographing a high school senior boy is really hard. They often don’t want anything to do with photos and are only there because their mother is making them do it. But I’ve had some very willing and photogenic senior guys this year and Andrew is one of them.
Andrew is a senior at Gray-New Gloucester High School, he’s very outdoorsy, and he’s on the track team.
When I talked to Andrew and his mom during our planning consultation, his mom said she just wanted some nice, good-looking senior photos.
Andrew said he wanted some unique photos, and that he was going to bring some of his running stuff,
if I could come up with a way to incorporate that. As soon as he said that a few ideas popped into my head.
The end result was just a little bit different — and better — than I originally imagined.
He told me that one of his favorite things about himself was his determination and his ‘get it done’ attitude.
I just love how these turned out.
Andrew had told me that running and the outdoors was his life.
So we made sure to do plenty of outdoor shots, too. I think we captured a good chunk of his personality.
Andrew really made the session fun and had a terrific attitude. I had a great time and I hope he and his mom did, too.
These are just some of my many favorites…
(for non-track folks, he’s juggling a baton used when running a relay race)
One of my favorite senior sessions this year has been with Kaisa, a senior at Oxford Hills. We started at the studio with hair and makeup by Allie Roberge of Tagli Salon.
We did some photos outside as the skies got cloudier, then we headed to a special location near their house.
Shortly after we left the studio, the rain started. We drove through rain the whole half hour to our destination, but as we turned down the narrow country road leading to the photo spot, the rain stopped and the sun came out. The timing couldn’t have been better.
The location for these photos was spectacular — A private property with a field overlooking fantastic mountain views, a barn and wooden fence, gazebo, pond… everything one could ask for.
And of course my favorite part of the session — when Kaisa’s dog, Leo, made a guest appearance. I just love these.
Kaisa’s mom describes her as outgoing with a sarcastic sense of humor, friendly and happy.
She plans on going into the medical field but isn’t sure just what she wants to do yet. She loves to wear dresses, but you’ll most often find her wearing her Birkenstocks with them.
Thanks for a great time, Kaisa and Kathy (and Leo)!
Thanks for bringing me to such a wonderful location, and for being willing to stay out in the light rain at the end.
AND I’m excited that I get to photograph Kaisa’s brother’s wedding next year, at the same great private property!
Samantha is one of a string of beautiful and vibrant young women I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this summer. The camera loves her.
And THOSE EYES. Wow. I did nothing in Photoshop to enhance them, they really are all blue and soulful and expressive like that.
Samantha considers herself outdoorsy and athletic. She enjoys camping and loves playing soccer. She’s truly a natural beauty.
And I haven’t even mentioned that hair. How did one person get all that thick, beautiful hair? It’s not quite fair, is it.
Her mom says she loves Samantha’s enthusiasm…she puts her all into everything she does. She wanted her senior photos to look natural and outdoorsy. Thanks to makeup artist Sara for Samantha’s gorgeous look that brings out her eyes while keeping that natural beauty at the forefront.
Samantha says her favorite thing about herself is her work ethic. She plans to join a college ROTC program and major in nursing. I have no doubt she will succeed in whatever she puts her mind to.
I can tell that she’s just awesome that way.
Samantha is a soccer goalie and like everything she does she puts 100% into it. And apparently looks very good while doing it. : )
Thanks for the great photo session, Samantha, and enjoy your senior year!
Maddie is a senior at Leavitt Area High School in Turner. She’s a beauty, that’s for sure.
Her hair and makeup for this session were done here at the studio
by Audrey Martin of Escada Hair Studio in Lewiston.
It poured on her original session date and we rescheduled to what would turn out to be the hottest day of the summer so far. Wow, was it HOT. So we spent a little extra time shooting inside in the air conditioning before we braved the oven outside.
Maddie brought her boyfriend, Carlton, for some photos with her.
Maddie is active in cheering and softball, and she enjoys fishing and hanging out with her friends.
She likes going to the beach, in fact, she’s headed on a trip to the Dominican Republic in a few days.
Partway through the session we headed for McLaughlin Garden in South Paris.
It’s always pretty there and there’s always something in bloom. It also felt a few degrees cooler there…though it was still well into the 90’s.
Maddie has a friendly and warm personality and she’s very easy to talk to. During our pre-session consultation, Maddie’s mom told me she is very proud of how kind-hearted Maddie is.
Maddie was up for anything for her session, and her mom was hoping for some gorgeous head shots and some scenic outdoor photos with flowers and greenery. I’d say the mission was accomplished.
These were just a few of the many beautiful photos we made that day.
Thanks for a great session, Maddie, you made my job easy!
Monica is a senior at St. Dom’s. She embodies brains and beauty, and has a fun and giving personality. She brought her mom, dad, stepmom, sister and boyfriend to her session, so there was a lot of fun and laughter throughout the session. She wanted her photos to have a classic look with a little bit dreamy/romantic vibe as well.
She used to play the piano a lot, so I asked her to bring some of her old sheet music.
A floral crown adds a dreamy and romantic look…
Sharing the spotlight with her sister for a few…
Monica has an adventurous and giving spirit. She will be traveling to Mississippi this Spring with the Mission Mississippi group from school and they’ll do work (building, fixing, helping) in the poor communities in Mississippi. They raise money for the trip throughout the year.
Monica loves bold colors (like the sequined top above) and her favorite is orange. It looks great on her, too. And she probably thought I was crazy when I passed her this parasol but she had a great attitude about everything I asked her to do.
Her last outfit was an adorable pink sundress. Once again, playing into a romantic kind of feeling.
Thank you, Monica, for making my job so easy. You are a real beauty, inside and out!
